Privacy Policy

Your trust matters. This policy explains what The Way collects, how we use it, and the choices you have.

Last updated: October 15, 2026

What we collect

Account information

When you create an account we store your email address and the first and last name you provide. Your name is shown to group members alongside your reading activity.

Reading & reflection data

We store the passages you read, your written reflections, the points and streaks you earn, and the AI-generated score and feedback for each reflection. Reflections are visible within the groups you belong to.

Notebook photos

If you choose to submit a photo of your handwritten notes, the image is uploaded and stored so we can transcribe and evaluate it. The photo is linked to your reflection and is not shared publicly.

Group & prayer activity

We store your group memberships, invite codes you generate, prayer requests you post (including whether you chose to post anonymously), and the count of others praying with you.

Preferences

We store your preferred Bible translation, study track, and optional daily reading reminder time so the app can tailor your experience.

Referral data

If you invite friends, we record the connection between you and your invitees so referral bonuses can be awarded.

How we use your information

  • To deliver daily readings, score your reflections, and track your streaks and points.
  • To show your progress to the groups you have joined and display group leaderboards.
  • To transcribe and evaluate notebook photos using AI, so you can submit handwritten reflections.
  • To send optional daily reading reminders at the time you choose, if you have not yet read that day.
  • To award referral bonuses when someone you invited completes their first reading.
  • To maintain the app and improve the reading experience over time.

AI evaluation

When you submit a reflection, an AI model reviews it for genuine engagement with the passage — not length or copied text — and assigns a score, points, and feedback. The AI does not make decisions about you beyond scoring that single reflection. Your reflection text and any notebook photo are processed for this purpose.

Sharing & visibility

Your reflections and reading progress are visible within the groups you have joined. Prayer requests are visible on your group's prayer wall. We do not sell your data. We do not share your information with third parties for advertising.

Data retention & your choices

  • You can edit your name and preferences anytime from your profile.
  • You can delete your reflections and prayer posts.
  • You can delete your account at any time from your profile settings, which removes your account and associated data.

Children's privacy

The Way is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us with information, please contact us and we will delete it.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as The Way evolves. We will revise the date above when we do. Continued use of the app after a change means you accept the updated policy.
